Twin Flame Meaning: Beyond the Romantic Myth
I have been avoiding writing about twin flames and anything related to them because of the romantic notion surrounding them, and partly because of my twin flame journey.
Before I begin, I want to clear up some misconceptions about twin flames.
There is nothing romantic about twin flames. Your twin flame is there to trigger you, allowing you to heal past traumas and evolve into a lightworker. This experience is painful; it’s not sexy. It’s messy.
You and your twin flame are not destined to be together. Now I’m not saying union between the twin flames is impossible, but it’s rare. They are not the one; however, they are the one that holds a mirror to you so that you can heal and then heal others. That is all.
Twin flame union can only take place if both twins are doing the inner work, and for my research, that is very rare. Twin flames are rare anyway, and the majority of people who say they are in one are not a twin flame. They’re false twin flames. People confuse twin flames with toxic relationships and trauma bonding….
What is a twin flame?
A twin flame is you reincarnated twice in the same lifetime. They are you and you are them; without them, there would be no you and vice versa.
You are two sides of the same coin. You share the same soul, and you’ve been playing this game in previous lifetimes.
Think about it like this: I’ll use The Matrix movie as the analogy. You have Neo, and he represents the destruction of the matrix, but wants to be free from illusions. He wants to create a new way of living, no lies, no illusions. Agent Smith represents the togetherness of the matrix. He wants to keep the matrix there, but as the film progresses, you start to realise that he’s also sick of the matrix and wants to destroy it without rebirth, which means destroying everyone. Both Neo and Agent Smith come from the same source, the machines. Without Neo, there’d be no Agent Smith and vice versa; This is the same with the twin flames. One holds the illusion, the matrix, the system, government, and societal norms, while the other sees through the illusion and has come back home to themselves, where they found the truth, and is now helping the collective to raise their consciousness. We call this the divine masculine and the divine feminine.
On the surface, these two are opposites, but they are one. The separation between the twin flames is an illusion. The matrix, i.e., the divine masculine, runs from the spiritual twin, i.e., the divine feminine. However, the divine masculine is running from itself while the divine feminine stands still, knowing that everything moves in them and through them.
Now, the divine masculine and divine feminine are not gender specific, but based on my experience and the experience of others, the divine masculine is usually male and the divine feminine is typically female.
The divine masculine running is an illusion because one cannot run from oneself. And the more inward the divine feminine goes, the more she can see the divine masculine and know his thoughts without him being present.
The more inward she goes, the less she yearns for the twin because she realises it was never about them in the first place. It was always about her, until the yearning is no more, and she is one with herself.
And this is why I know that most people online shouting about twin flames and watching tarot obsessing for years, still yearning for the other person, are fake twin flames, because as the divine feminine, you cannot avoid the calling. The twin flame is the start of your spiritual awakening, which you cannot turn back from, because you realise that you, your higher self, orchestrated this whole thing.
Common Signs of a Twin Flame Connection
The Divine masculine is constantly running away, and the DF is always chasing.
The Divine masculine runs because the divine feminine’s existence shows him what he needs to work on.
Because the divine masculine has been operating in coward mode for the majority of their adult life, he is scared about this. He also fears how he feels about her because he feels he has no control over his feelings. He has never experienced love like this before. For many, they realise this is the first time they’ve been in love…
You see, the patriarchy has not just held women back, but it has held men back, too, with this idea of being stoic. It has left men being emotionally immature and unable to navigate their emotions, and so they run. They avoid themselves by marrying the wrong person intentionally, drinking, drugs, sex, money, and their careers.
And so he rejects the divine feminine, but what he is rejecting is the divine feminine within himself. He is madly in love with her, obsessed with her, and is scared of these feelings. He is a representation of the majority of men in today’s society.
He is trapped in the life that the matrix told him to create, and they take it out on the people around them instead of finding a different path.
This is why you have public figures such as Shera Seven and Princella the Queen Maker stating that men are incapable of love, and it’s true. Love is about relinquishing control, and men have been told that they must be in control at all times…..
The divine feminine is about relinquishing control. The divine masculine is unable to honour this within himself, so he pushes her away.
How to Heal After a Twin Flame Awakening
Now, the divine feminine usually (obviously, there are outliers, so use discernment) has to work through her abandonment issues. She is longing to be chosen, because in her childhood, she was not selected. She keeps choosing emotionally unavailable partners, and what happens in this twin flame journey is the DM abandoning her and choosing someone or something else. This too is an illusion, but in the midst of it, you do not realise.
Her response is pain. In the beginning, it’s excruciating. It’s like you can’t breathe, but she realises that to heal, she must choose herself and that the DM did not abandon her. He abandoned himself to maintain the illusion of control.
She chose those toxic patterns because they felt familiar to her, and being in those kinds of relationships helped her to maintain control, too.
Over time, the DF realises that the twin flame journey is about her spiritual healing. She chooses herself, she falls in love with herself, and as time goes by, she balances herself within and goes on to live a fulfilled, fun, and adventurous life.
The divine masculine stops running and finds himself pursuing the divine feminine; however, most of the time, he has not done the work, so she turns him away. This usually only happens once, and they do not see each other again; however, as there are outliers because each twin flame journey is unique, my twin came to me twice after our separation, and both times I turned him away.
Twin Flame vs Soulmate: What’s the Difference?
Every twin flame journey is unique, but one thing is consistent: The DM and DF are here to revolutionise the systems, but it’s only the DF that answers the call while the DM cowers and runs away.
Now, yes, there are outliers. Some DMs answer the call and are in union with their DF, but as I said before, that is very rare and not what the DF should focus on. The DF usually goes on to be with a soul mate who is in alignment with her and supports her in her light work if that’s what she chooses.
If you’ve found yourself here, reading these words, trust that it’s not by chance. Maybe your soul needed a quiet reminder that what you’re feeling is valid, and what you’re moving through matters. My journey is mine, but perhaps in it, you see reflections of your own. Wherever you are, be gentle with yourself. You’re not alone, and this, too, is shaping you.
Have you ever experienced a connection that changed everything? I’d love to hear your story in the comments. And if this post resonated, share it with someone who’s navigating their own soul connection.
Let’s keep the conversation going; we’re not meant to journey alone.
